I've looked at this a couple times, but the implementation effort always seems way out of proportion to the benefit. In the same situation, for the Realms notifications, Mojang's code is very hard-coded into the title screen's render method. I'm going to ignore this issue indefinitely, but will gladly merge a reasonable PR from somebody with more time.
