By removing the usage of the filepath variable here, it becomes an unused variable, which will cause a compilation error in Go. Please remove the declaration and assignment of filepath on lines 119-122.

This block of code to copy the annotations map can be simplified. Since the manifest from which layer.Annotations originates is a local variable and not modified elsewhere, creating a defensive copy is unnecessary. You can directly assign layer.Annotations to improve readability and reduce verbosity.
